Mason Jars are the perfect vessel for growing Bean Sprouts because their clear walls allow for light to easily pass through and they can be sterilized in the dishwasher between sprouting batches. The Bean Screen screws onto the mouth of wide mouth Mason jars and provides an anti-roll feature via the faceted sides, preventing the jar from rolling off counter tops. These tops do a great job of sprouting beans in a wide-mouth mason jar. The tabs that allow the jar to stand on its lid and drain is awesome. The contours on the ring make it easy to grip and they keep the jar from rolling around when it is on its side. I only have two issues with the lids. First, the silicone tends to grip the jar, making it resist screwing on and off. Second, it takes a bit of shaking over the sink to get the excess water out of the jar after it has gravity drained. Would I buy them again? Absolutely yes! They are not perfect, but they are the very best sprout lids I've used.
These sprouting lids are terrific! They fit all my wide mouth mason jars so I can grow a small jar or a big 1/2 gallon size depending on my needs. And, because they come in a two pack, I can be growing my next batch while I'm eating the first one!
